Why getting adjusted benefits you – Even when you don’t think you need it!

We recently spoke to a patient who was a fit and healthy man in his forties had an active job and was in good health. But had never been adjusted. Whilst at the gym he injured his shoulder and realised he had damaged it during exercise, thinking he had just pulled something he decided to rest it, thinking it would sort itself out. After a week of rest and being unable to go to the gym, finding no improvement, he decided to see a professional.

This gentleman went to a practice who incorporated physio as well as chiropractic treatment, He was told he had supraspinatus impingement. Which is where a tendon (band of tissue) inside your shoulder rubs or catches on nearby tissue and bone as you lift your arm. The Physio explained exactly what he had done and showed the x-ray images and gave him exercises to help with this particular condition.

supraspinatus impingement

The physio looked at his whole body, and not just the shoulder to make sure there were no underlying issues that may have contributed to the condition. The Physio had noted that his back was very tight and he had limited movement in his back and with his permission, he adjusted his back.

This is where the real healing started!

He had been unaware that his movement in his back had become so limited overtime. Once he had been adjusted, the range of movement increased so much so that it has had a dramatic impact on how he worked in his professional capacity and how he worked out at the gym. He had just put up with the aches and pains in his back thinking it was more to do with his age rather than a treatable condition!

He has now said that he fully believes in being adjusted on a regular basis, as he can see how much benefit this is made to his life.

Just another reason why we at the Lawrence clinic would like to incorporate not just physio but chiropractic and osteo care,  we work together with a team approach to give you the best treatment to get you moving again.
