Blackhead Removal

Blackheads are medically known as a ‘comedone’ and they are dark spots on the surface of the skin and vary in size but are usually very small. They are a mild form of acne and are caused by a hair follicle in the skin becoming clogged by dead skin and excess oil and usually appear on the face or upper body.

They can be a result of hormonal changes such as puberty, menstruation or pregnancy, where oil gland overproduction usually takes place.

Blackheads are relatively easy to spot on the skin due to their dark colour and they are usually slightly raised from the skin’s surface. They aren’t painful like pimples (spots), however, some people may opt to have them surgically removed so that they don’t become larger and more clogged or due to cosmetic reasons and the appearance they have on the skin.
