Metatarsalgia  is a common overuse injury. The term describes pain and inflammation in the ball of the foot. It is often thought of as a symptom of other conditions, rather than as a specific disease

Pain in the ball of the foot., affects the metatarsals, the bones connecting the ankle bones to the toes. They're a common source of pain because they support your weight when you're standing, walking and running.
