Acupuncture – What is it and How can it help you?

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the Chinese practise of penetrating the skin with needles meant to stimulate the flow of energy within the body.

The body is said to have approximately 2,000 acupuncture pressure points which can unlock the flow of Qi in the body and allow for natural healing.

The practise sees pain as a result of a blockage in the body’s natural energy, and the needles placed in specific areas can release this tension.

Needles are not the only way to provide this treatment, cupping can also be used to aid the body.

“National Institutes of Health (NIH) studies have shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment alone or in combination with conventional therapies to treat the following:

  • Nausea caused by surgical anesthesia and cancer chemotherapy
  • Dental pain after surgery
  • Addiction
  • Headaches
  • Menstrual cramps
  • Tennis elbow
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Myofascial pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Low back pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Asthma

It may also help with stroke rehabilitation.”

With the current Coronavirus climate, acupuncture has been proven to aid those suffering with the side effects of long covid. For example, if you are struggling with a loss of smell and taste, sinus headaches and other Covid-19 related symptoms – this treatment can relief these issues.

If you are struggling with any of the aforementioned problems, acupuncture may be able to help you today.
