Parker Walsh Psychology  is an independent service based in Leeds and covering the Yorkshire region and surrounding area. The service offers psychological assessment and therapeutic work to all age groups, with specialist experience working with Children, Adolescents and Families.

Dr Walsh and Dr Parker are both Chartered Clinical Psychologists. They are registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Division of Clinical Psychology and adhere strictly to the society’s code of practice and ethics.

About Us

Dr Parker and Dr Walsh, have considerable experience assessing and treating a wide range of mental health problems experienced by young people, adults and families. This includes anxiety problems (such as phobias, generalised anxiety and panic attacks), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, depression and deliberate self-harm. They also have a number of years experience providing formal cognitive assessments in learning difficulties and academic achievement, and as part of assessments for developmental difficulties such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Both Dr Parker and Dr Walsh provide supervision to Psychologists in Clinical Training on the Leeds University Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Course and are responsible for critically evaluating the trainee’s work to help them attain several core competencies essential for entry into professional practice.


Dr Parker and Dr Walsh also have experience of providing medico legal assessments and reports, via legal instruction, regarding the effects of trauma including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Dr Adele Parker

Dr Parker has specialist experience working with children and adolescents within the care system.  She is a member of the Calderdale Looked After and Adopted Children’s Mental Health Team.  Dr Parker offers assessment and therapeutic work for young people with complex mental health difficulties.  She does a considerable amount of work with children and adults suffering the short and long-term effects of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Dr Parker has completed post-qualification training on the assessment and treatment of attachment difficulties.  


Dr Parker provides regular consultations and supervision to other mental and non-mental health professionals regarding a variety of mental health difficulties.  She also offers training in attachment, attachment difficulties and therapeutic parenting to mental health professionals, adoptive parents and foster carers.

Dr Helen Walsh

Dr Walsh has specialist experience assessing and treating anxiety disorders (including phobias, panic and generalised anxiety) obsessive compulsive difficulties and the effects of trauma in all age group. She also has considerable experience in the assessment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and has worked as part of a specialist ADHD assessment clinic since 1999.

She offers supervision and consultation to mental health and non mental health professionals and is the CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) consultant to Calderdale Youth Offending Team. 

In her current NHS role, Dr Walsh is the training co-ordinator and has extensive experience developing and delivering training on mental health difficulties, particularly in children and young people. She has provided, consistently well received, training for health, education, social services and the voluntary sector in a variety of topics and formats.

Therapeutic Techniques

The information gained from assessment is used to guide our intervention and choice of techniques so that treatment is tailored to suit each individual person

The key approach used is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, as it is evidenced to be the most effective model for many mental health difficulties. However, we also employ techniques from Systemic Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Behaviour Therapy.


Dr Walsh is also trained to level 2 in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a technique that has been extensively researched and proven effective in the treatment of trauma.
