Should I buy organic food?
Buying organic food is an investment in your health because it is pesticide and chemical free. So we would promote organic food in the name of healthy eating.
If you cannot afford organic food or it is difficult to obtain, always wash your vegetables and fruit in a solution of one part vinegar to twelve parts water in order to reduce the pesticides or chemicals in the food. Then rinse under the cold water tap to remove the vinegar 'odour' and place in the refrigerator to keep cool.
What type of diet will I be on?
Your diet will be a special diet, which has been planned to suit your metabolic rate and lifestyle. It will be real food, no gimmicks and you will not be hungry. It will also contain all the vitamins and minerals that you need to keep you healthy while you lose weight. Every time you lose 3lbs, your diet will be changed, in order that your metabolic rate can keep working and burning off the fat cells. Once you are slim, you will be provided with a maintenance diet, to keep the weight off.
What kind of food is on the diet?Everyday foods. Your diet will be set out in meals. There will be a list of breakfasts, lunches, evening meals and suppers. We can also include a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack, if you wish. It is important that you have a diet that is low fat, low sugar, low carbohydrate, but has plenty of protein. Your healthy-eating diet will be balanced to ensure that you have all the essential nutrients you need. It will be very easy to follow and you can start it immediately. We will also teach you the special foods that you need, that will speed up your metabolic rate, so that you lose weight faster. We can also introduce a daily treat, for the times when you feel like a change.
Can I drink alcohol and enjoy 'take-away' foods and restaurant meals on my diet?
You will be able to have a glass or two of wine or lager once you have completed the first three days of the Starter Diet. You can certainly eat in restaurants, or have take-away meals, providing you eat sensibly. Your Personal Diet Adviser will give you lots of tips on what to eat, when you enrol.
How much weight can I lose, if I keep to the plan?
You will start on a Starter or detox diet, which will teach you how to eat a balanced diet. You can expect to lose at least 5 lbs, in your first week, then a regular 2 lbs each week after that. Doctors recommend that people take their weight loss slowly, in order to lose excess fats, not muscle tissue. Obviously, if you have a larger weight problem, the unwanted pounds come off quicker. With the constant support that you get from your Personal Diet Adviser, you will be given all the tips necessary to help you, personally, to get the very best weight losses. What is a Starter Diet?
A Starter Diet is the one that you will be on for your first week, until your Diet Adviser has worked out your personal diets to suit you individually. The Starter Diet will detox or clean out your system, getting rid of all the unwanted stodgy foods that you may have eaten prior to dieting. The Starter Diet will help you to lose a good few pounds, which will give you the motivation to keep trying. It has a breakfast, lunch, evening meal and snack. On your Starter Diet, we will teach you how to nibble on certain foods that will speed up your metabolic rate to improve your weight loss.
How do you help me to stop cheating on my diet?
Because you are on a personal course and have one-to-one support from your own Diet Adviser, there is always help available, either by telephone or through your Personal Page. Once you are losing weight again, you will feel so much better and will continue your diet. We will also give you special tips on what food is best for you to eat at the times when you feel stressed. Do I need to exercise whilst dieting?
Exercising within your capabilities is good for you, but it is not necessary to do any strenuous exercise. You can start with the simple exercises, shown on a personal chart we will send you, which can be performed in the privacy of your own home, with very little effort. They just take 10 minutes a day and some of them can be done whilst sitting down. They are easy, but they work. Walking, swimming, gardening. In fact, anything that keeps you moving will help to burn off a few more calories.
If I crave sweet foods, do I need to give them up?
No, you do not have to give up your favourite treats. We have special diets, some with a daily treat, for the times when you want sweet food. We also supply lots of recipes for sweets and desserts that you, and the whole family, can enjoy. We can also give you tips on how to control your sweet tooth, for example using the sugar-free products. We will also help you to understand how your body works. For example, if you miss meals, even occasionally, this can result in your blood-sugar level dropping, causing you to crave sweet foods. Dietcare will show you how to eat small and often to help stop these cravings occurring.
Do I have to weigh and measure all my foods?
No, there are certain foods that can speed up your metabolic rate and help you to lose weight and these are 'free' foods without weighing. We will supply a list of these foods. We appreciate that our members generally do not have the time to be weighing and measuring everything, so your diets are prepared in meal format. All you do, is pick a breakfast, lunch, evening meal and snack supper for your diet menu. This is easy to follow and will result in a good weight loss.
